Alan Fredricks graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He began his career in public accounting, spending 12½ years with a large multinational accounting firm, where he earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. In 1989, Alan decided to take his experience into the private sector, joining a family-owned office furniture and technology dealership, where he spent the next 36 years as Vice President and Treasurer.
As part of the company’s management team, Alan wore many hats. While his primary focus was on the financial side of the business, his responsibilities extended well beyond accounting. He oversaw financial reporting, cash flow, accounts receivable and payable, human resources, and technology. Over the years, he gained extensive experience with ERP systems, financial analysis, and managing the financial records of several related businesses. Working in a family-owned company gave Alan a firsthand appreciation for the challenges and opportunities that come with running a successful business.
One of the more interesting and rewarding experiences of Alan’s career came recently when he played a key role in helping the owners sell the business. He worked closely with the ownership team and other parties involved in the transaction, providing financial information, answering questions, and helping navigate the many details required to bring the sale to a successful conclusion. That experience gave him a new perspective on what business owners go through when preparing to sell a company, particularly one that has been family-owned for generations. It’s an experience he believes will be especially valuable as he begins the next chapter of his career.
After more than 50 years in accounting and financial management, Alan is looking forward to putting his knowledge and experience to work in a new way as a Financial Analyst with Results Business Advisors. He sees this opportunity as a chance to help other business owners navigate important financial decisions, drawing on both his years in public accounting and his firsthand experience managing and helping sell a privately held business.
On a personal note, Alan and his longtime partner, Ann, have five sons and six grandchildren, ranging in age from 23 years to just one month. Family is an important part of their lives, and they enjoy spending time together whenever they can.
When he’s not working or spending time with family, you’re likely to find Alan on the golf course. Golf has long been one of his favorite pastimes. He’s also a car enthusiast, a passion he shares with his three sons. They enjoy attending car shows and cruising together whenever the opportunity arises.
Alan is looking forward to this next chapter, bringing a lifetime of financial experience, practical business knowledge, and a genuine appreciation for the people behind the businesses he hopes to help.
